unable to mount nor access iphone from linux gest on vmware.

usb device seems to be discover, but
~$ ideviceinfo No device found, is it plugged in?
My config :
host windows XP running vmware, gest Ubuntu Lucid, with
ppa.launchpad.net/pmcenery/ppa/ubuntu lucid enabled. iphone 3G with
3.1.2 firmware.
Please find some traces in the attached files.
Issues with the "VMware, Inc. Virtual USB Hub" ?

after some investigation
=> install iphone usb driver on the windows host, no change. => try to gdb usbmuxd (not a lot of success...) but device is not discover at all : I don't see the line "[...][3] Connected to v1.0 device 1 on location 0x10002 with serial number xxxx"I definitively think the issue is in the vmware USB layer :
same cable same iphone : OK with windows host itune. same version of the libiphone libraries are ok on an exotic non-x86 architecture with same iphone, same USB cable. (the cross compilation takes some time to configure, but it was only my fault)Ticket could be close as invalid. I'll give again a try if I test in the future an other vitualization platform.

VMWare player works fine with iPhone/USB connectivity for me. Perhaps you should kill anything iTunes related on the host computer first before attempting to access it from the virtual machine. iTunes has a few services running in the background which claim the usb device and thus the VM won't be able to access it either.
