Maybe you should check also for python bindings of libplist.
It should inform the user that needs libplist with cython and python flags on and not have compile ...

Actually this was an gentoos ebuild issue for python3 with cython. It's now solved.

Probably it's a python3 compatibility issue, I get the following trying to build libplist in gentoo.
