Error compiling with Cython 0.16_rc0

First, the configure complains that:
Error: Cython version >= 0.13.0 is required. You have Cython
version 0.16rc0. You should look at http://www.cython.org
Then, when modifying the Makefile accordingly, some errors
occur:
Overriding final methods is not allowed
I guess it is part of the new features of Cython.
