Could not start com.apple.mobile.installation_proxy!

Reported by csoler | July 8th, 2010 @ 07:26 PM

I compiled and launched ideviceinstaller on ubuntu lucid, but I get this error (ipod touch 8Gb plugged in):

./src/ideviceinstaller -l Could not start com.apple.mobile.installation_proxy!

Is this a bug ? I could not find any information about this with google, except the sourcecode itself, but that did not help figuring out what is wrong.

Thanks!

    • State changed from “new” to “open”
    • Tag set to ipod touch, 8gb, ideviceinstaller, lucid, ubuntu

Please try again and run ideviceinstaller using the "-d" debug options to show it's content.

    Is your device jailbroken?
    Does running "ideviceinfo" show anything?
Is your iPod Touch recognized at all in the system by "lsusb"?

Well, you are running iOS 1.1.5 which probably did not have such an application management interface (installation_proxy).
If I remember this was introduced with iOS 2.x.
Thus please upgrade your iOS version for support to manage applications with ideviceinstaller.
