Mandriva 2010.1 (beta), iphone 3GS, Firmware 3.1.3
can't access the iPhone with the file browser; no desktop icon:

- State changed from “new” to “open”
Looks like some permission issue.
* Could you please try running usbmuxd manually in the foreground, attach the device and post the output please? * Are you able to run "ideviceinfo" if the device is attached? -

In the meantime I found the solution here:
http://ingvar.blog.linpro.no/category/iphone/I had to do the following:
Edit /lib/udev/rules.d/85-usbmuxd.rules as root, and add OWNER=”usbmux”.
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", OWNER="usbmux", ...

Apr 18 14:08:37 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6
Apr 18 14:08:37 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=05ac, idProduct=1294

Apr 18 14:08:37 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: Manufacturer: Apple Inc.
Apr 18 14:08:37 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: SerialNumber: cff....the only thing was: I had to change the "iPhone"-icon on my desktop; it didn't look like an iPhone.
--> the ticket can be closed.
