Bug when renaming a file on iPhone
Reported by hilbert | January 14th, 2011 @ 10:06 PM
Dear all, I'm having the following misbehaviour:
- copy a file from pc to a folder on iphone say
iTunes_Controls/Ringtone/my_file.m4r
- rename that file to myfile.m4r
- the file is no more there but it gets moved to the iphone root folder.
Is it expected or a known feature?
using iPhone 3GS 4.1
ubuntu 10.10 with libimobiledevice stable version.
cheers,
hilbert

Confirmed. Looks like you found a bug.
After a quick investigation it looks like the bug is in the GVFS implementation since I was not able to reproduce this using ifuse.We're going to dig deeper to fix it.

This issue is (pretty much) fixed upstream. Should be available in a next GVFS release and git master of GVFS (soon).
I also backported this for the GVFS packages bundled with openSUSE. -
