On OS X, plutil masks Apple's plutil
Reported by ryandesign | March 4th, 2013 @ 01:05 PM
Installing libplist 1.8 on OS X causes problems, because libplist provides a program called plutil, which does not work the same way as Apple's program of the same name already installed on OS X. Here is the bug report I sent to the MacPorts maintainer of libplist:
https://trac.macports.org/ticket/33033
Since he has not responded, I'm trying to figure out how we should handle this. Should we:
- not install libplist's plutil?
- rename libplist's plutil to something else?

I am maintaining the fink package and was not aware of the problem. Trying "plist -h" actually brought up "Usage: plistutil ...", which is a nice idea. I will actually do an according rename for the fink package until the next release of libplist, where this is fixed.

I think it's ok to rename plutil into plistutil.

Fixed in git master. The tool is now called "plistutil".
